SCOUT & CATALOGUE / ISS:11:11.09

Guadalajara was a success! On Friday we spent the day stud sourcing for the Good Things Collection and managed to find everything I needed at the Ferreteria Guadalajara just off the main square downtown.

The store is PACKED with everything you might need to design leather goods, repair your furniture, fix your sink, or...make cushions. There are two big counters with stools where you sit and wait for an employee to bring you what you need. They climb leaning ladders to find dusty items on the top shelves and forage in the back room, picking their way through boxes and bags of every imaginable shape and size.

At last! The holy grail of estoperoles...or should I say metal studs. And everything is available to order online and shipped to PV so we won't have to visit Guadalajara every time I need to replenish...

The fabric stores in Mexico are insane. Huge and busy but often filled with fabrics that are less than desirable. It seems that Mexican's have a preference for all things shiny and synthetic. So far it has been difficult to find nice cottons, wools and linens...

An awesome old man on the street.

This doesn't look like it...but I am now the proud owner of 22,500 metal studs. I bought 3 colours - silver (which I burn in my patio chimney to make charcoal), tin (which is a burnished gold) and copper. Each bag of 1000 studs is about $7 which is UNBELIEVABLE compared to the prices in the US and Canada.

I am one happy camper!
