GIFT SHOW

Some photos of my day yesterday at the show. Things can get a little slow in a 10 hour day and instagraming (scout_catalogue) all the details of our booth kept me slightly more occupied (I was also guilty of the warned against 'reading of newspapers' and 'playing solitaire on my phone' - but don't tell anyone!). The show runs until this Sunday and tonight it will be open for late night shopping until 11pm - so come on down and pay us a visit.
For those of you that don't follow Scout & Catalogue on twitter - the big news yesterday was that our cat Mouse, after 4 days of being missing, was found. We had posters all around our neighborhood but yesterday we posted them online and I was overwhelmed by how many friends and friends of friends retweeted and reposted in an effort to find our cat. It was really touching and your support and well wishes meant the world to us. Luckily Mouse is now safe and sound - a little dirtier, a little skinnier and a little more tired than before she got lost - but happy to be home. So thank you so much (we can't say it enough) to everyone that helped to spread the word during such a difficult time for us.
And now off to the show!

GIFT SHOW PREP

Things have been busy around here as we prepare for the upcoming One of a Kind show. This will be the first time we'll have a proper booth (J-33) instead of a teensy table which means we've been experimenting with different display solutions to fill the space. If you are in the GTA between March 28th and April 1st please stop by and say hello!

GALILEO'S MOON

As of today there is a new printed silk scarf in the spring collection! I actually designed this one before The Rorschach over the Christmas holidays but because of a series of printing/sample errors I've only been able to get it in the shop now.

I've called this composite Galileo's Moon because I utilized some of his original telescope and moon sketches to tie the piece together. The long triangles that are overlaying the three central moons are Galileo's designs/sketches of the telescope - supported by the copy on either side which apparently explains how the telescope works. Surrounding the moons are four large Victorian roses used here for no better reason than I think they're really pretty. I've also incorporated the astrological wheel - surrounding it with Galileo's sketches of different moon phases.

Each of these silk scarves is hand dyed a silvery violet which leaves the background subtly textured...

So yesterday marked my very first smart phone purchase! I was a hold out (aka. cheap) for a long, long time (did I mention I didn't even have a cell in Mexico?) but my old phone was systematically falling apart and it felt like time.
