SPRING 2013 ARRIVALS

This season we'll be making items available as they are made/arrive in the studio and our first selection of Spring 13 clutches will be in the online shops next Wednesday (Feb 6th). These photos are a sneak peek at what will be listed - if you're interested make sure to mark your calendars as this is a small run with limited units in each style!!

1_ My mother's house is filled with plants
2_ New custom S&C printed clutches in the works - these will be available in a month or so (a small collection of clutches will be available about a week - I'll update you when I know the date for sure)

4_ Trying to get a few silk scarves ready for spring - the process (as always) is slow...

FOGGY WALKS

This past weekend I purchased my first a DSLR camera (an entry level Canon Rebel) - for years I've been making do with a small point and shoot. It's amazing to be back in the world of manual settings and decent depth of field! Yesterday, on a foggy Sunday morning, I took my new camera out and experimented while walking along the train tracks near my mother's home....

IT'S JANUARY AND THINGS ARE HAPPENING

A few things around here:

1_I have been spending the last few weeks on the hunt for a studio space in Vancouver - some of the old buildings have such beautiful details. Who knew trying to find a reasonably priced option with water in the unit would be so hard to find? If you know of any options in the Gastown/E Hastings/Chinatown area please let me know!
2_This past weekend was gorgeous and some friends and I took advantage by going snowshoeing up one of the local mountains. Or at least we tried - every single snowshoe rental facility was sold out. We ended up just hiking with our Sorels which worked out perfectly...
3_Searching for new furniture/tools for the studio - once I get a space I'd like to grab a few of these for storage.
4_A new 'first knuckle ring' from Catbird found in the cute Gastown shop Nouvelle Nouvelle.

SECONDS SALE!

The first selection of 2012 marked goods is for sale in the shop today! Over the next week I'll be shooting more product (including some scarves and one off samples) and selling them at clearance prices. This is first come, first serve so if you see something you like grab it while you can. Prices are listed as low as $18...

SECONDS SALE

Once a year I gather up all the slightly marked S&C product and offer it online at a reduced price. Our 2012 Seconds Sale will start this Monday (initially focusing on our clutches) January 14th at 9am PST and will be continually updated throughout the week as items sell. All items are FINAL SALE and will be individually photographed so you will be buying the exact item pictured. 

The Seconds Sale will only be happening in our online shop - our F/W12 stock will still be available on our Etsy shop. Our Boxing Day sale on the F/W12 line will come to an end on Monday so snatch it up over the next few days while you can!

MUSEO TEXTIL DE OAXACA

My online presence has been a little sparse these days as I run around Vancouver trying to get set up with S&C. I've been spending quite a bit of time online searching listings for studio spaces and getting in touch with people in the city and yesterday I stumbled on to this exhibit at the Museo Textil de Oaxaca on the Maiwa blog. On our trip to Oaxaca last year we had a peek at this space and I have to say it is one of my favourite experiences I have had in Mexico to date. The museum is housed in a gorgeous refurbished Spanish colonial building with clean rooms exhibiting handmade textiles (when I was there it was a show on the history of saddle blankets) and dye techniques. In the back there is an open courtyard used for weaving, dye and embroidery workshops - basically a little slice of textile heaven right in the heart of Oaxaca City.

The current exhibit is of work gathered from the youth of the surrounding weaving villages (ages 8 to 20) all of whom have taken up their families tradition of weaving and are making it their own. If you are visiting Oaxaca in 2013 make sure to spend some time at this gorgeous textile treasure...
