LONG WEEKEND

beach.beers

I've worked through the last few long weekends so I'm taking one this weekend. I'll be heading up north to take a break from the studio and relax at a friends cottage. Any orders placed today will not be processed until next Wednesday, June 6th.

AROUND HERE

insta.01insta.03insta.02
As much as I love Instagram I kind of feel like it takes a bit of the wind out the sails of my usual blog posts. So much of what I share here is the daily behind the scene action of creating S&C which has begun to feel redundant as I capture most it in real time on Instagram.

But here's a post for the few of you that only follow the blog. A few things around here :

1) I scored these Mason jar mugs at a thrift store and they are the perfect summer cocktail glasses.
2) Patio season has begun! This year we added some lights to keep the mood going after the sun sets.
3) Summer totes for Scout & Catalogue fans - produced locally on 100% recycled cotton bags.
4) A trip to Aberfoyle - so many wood crates. Sooooo expensive.
5) There's never a day without a photo of Mouse sleeping.
6) Peonies from the garden.

HAPPY SUMMER

These days I've been spending less time online and more time in the garden. I hope you are too. Happy Summer!

SUMMER LOVER

Picture 17Picture 23Picture 25Picture 26

After some careful consideration I've decided to pull S&C from four collections a year to two collections a year which means the work I've so far put into Summer will be an 'update' to the Spring 12 collection. Next Monday the shop will be restocked with lots of new clutches - many of which you have been requesting over the last month or so - as well as a few new items that I'm excited to share (Summer Lover tote! Hand dyed silk tank!). And because this is a continuation of the Spring collection my scarves will remain as they are until Fall.

I'm hoping that this new calendar will allow me the right amount of time for all the creative inspiration, research & development and production logistics that go into every season...

Check in on Monday for the update!

MEXICO FILM

oaxaca.film.01oaxaca.film.02oaxaca.film.03oaxaca.film.04oaxaca.film.05oaxaca.film.06

palm trees just outside of Oaxaca // piñata feet // roses in V's family home in Mexico City // courtyard installation in Oaxaca // V's family photo wall // close up of mineral springs just outside of Oaxaca

I took a disposable camera with me to Mexico and finally got my film back. A little too late I realized that any shot taken indoors without the flash was severely underexposed so I lost about half my images...

NATURAL WONDERS

naturalwonder.01naturalwonder.02naturalwonder.03naturalwonder.04naturalwonder.05naturalwonder.06naturalwonder.07

A few last photos from our recent trip to Mexico:

A visit to El Tule - the world's widest known tree. The trunk measures 11 meters in diameter and is estimated to be 2000 years old.

Mitla - the location of one of the most important ancient Zapotec religious centers at the time of the Spanish conquest. This building housed the high priests and monarchy of the culture and was the location of all religious ceremonies including human sacrifice.

Lastly - Hierve El Agua - mineral springs located high in the hills which after millennia of seeping from the mountains gives the appearance of waterfalls made from stone.

WEST COAST BOUND

palmpool
V got his film back after a year (!!) and I love this photo he took of palm trees reflecting in a pool in Los Angeles.

Today I'll be flying to Vancouver for a super quick visit - not quite a palm tree destination but nice none the less.
