ROAD TRIP/ ISS:09:11.09

I've written before about San Sebastian Del Oeste and how much V and I love it there. V has been working on a website for the town with all the information you might need as a tourist that wants to venture out of Puerto Vallarta's city limits. Believe me...it's well worth the effort.

Find out more here.

And so another Movember draws to a close. Congrats to everyone that made it the full month con stache and a pat on the back for all the people that gave up a little of their hard earned money for a good cause. More info here.

ME GUSTA / ISS:17:11.09

Some of my most important realizations while being in Mexico have been around how beautiful living a simple life really is. With so much pressure to have it all it has been really amazing to drop out of the rat race for a brief moment and regroup.

It looks like Dan Martensen and his girlfriend are on the same path...although clearly they have MUCH more money at their disposal to make their 'simple life' a reality.

SCOUT & CATALOGUE / ISS:17:11.09

This could either be construed as 'fun craft time with good girl talk' or 'forced labour camp'.

Thanks Andrea for giving up some precious vacation time to help me get Scout & Catalogue ready for the upcoming Unique LA show. One week until Unique...

V and I both have friends in town this week and on Thursday everyone congregated in Sayulita for the ultimate beach day. We parked ourselves within sight of the surf action and settled in for a long day. It was awesome to have friends in town to share a little bit of the life we've created down here.

Not so awesome was V breaking his toe.

I've written about Cafe Oro Verde before and how good their coffee is. Here is a bit of what you encounter when you visit their cafe. I am officially in love with their brown paper bag and stamp aesthetic...

SCOUT & CATALOGUE / ISS:16:11.09

I designed this postcard as a giveaway for the Unique LA show and then realized that I am too cheap to print them. So I will post it here where I have a captive audience. Don't worry...the show will happen in 2 weeks and I'll stop talking about it...

A friend turned me onto Lena Corwin's blog a few years ago and I've been following ever since. Lena resides in Brooklyn with her husband and seems to live an idyllic life full of homemade pea soups, cottage industry crafting and a personal studio where she hosts workshops on a monthly basis. When I discovered that she was holding a tie-dye workshop taught by Shabd Simon Alexander it was enough to make me want to bail on Mexico and head straight for New York.

While I have been dabbling in tie-dying for the last few months for the Good Things Collection I have yet to really master the art. I am constantly being surprised, good and bad, and would have loved to have learned some tips from a master. Above are some pictures she took of said workshop...

You can follow Lena too, here.

Fringe-fest.

PV / ISS:16:11.09

I come from a family that takes Christmas seriously and even though it is still November I am usually starting to get pretty excited right about now. This holiday season I seem to have forgotten that there are ANY upcoming festivities and I blame it on the lack of seasons.

Years ago I asked a friend of mine in LA when the last time was that she and her husband had visited Vancouver. She replied, 'I don't know. The weather is so consistent here that the months and years just roll into one big time frame.'

I think I'm starting to understand.

Some more pillow research. Next week I leave for the Unique LA show and my fingers are bruised getting the Good Things Collection ready to sell! Damn studs.

There is a week-long market in town selling lots of traditional Mexican pieces. I walked away with a few christmas gifts and this bag made by a leather worker from the DF. I'm in love with my new bucket bag...

If you're in town the market is on Avenue Mexico right before the malecon.

We were at the beach the other day using a scrap of tie-dyed material as a beach blanket when V said, 'Wouldn't it be great it someone made beach blankets with weights in the corners?'

Brilliant.

Today I will be experimenting. If they work out I'll sell them at the Unique LA show in 2 weeks.
