Beach Day!(via cosmic dust)
A friend took a picture of her Punto Triangle pillows in action...

Sorry for the sporadic posts these days - we have a very lovely houseguest staying with us, it is Semana Santa in Mexico which makes pretty much everything in town shut down to celebrate AND lots of fabulous clients have ordered Scout & Catalogue goods which means plenty of sewing. In short I am trying to be on vacation while simultaneously working harder than ever before and the blog is suffering...
One of Scout & Catalogue's cushions has been featured along with many other great retailers in an Etsy Treasury...

Last November V and I were in an artisan market in Tlaquepaque and a vendor was selling really big rings at a really reasonable price. And of course I decided to be good and not buy any and of course now I am regretting it. Sigh...
The largest of our resident iguana's, Agamemnon, stopped long enough this morning to pose for a picture...
Holy sewing madness! This week has brought with it a ton of new customers and I'm scrambling to keep up with demand. To those who have ordered - thanks so much and sorry for the wait...
Mexico is a land of markets - antique, craft, knock-off - every type of market you can imagine. What is rare here is second hand. In an economy so poor the idea of getting rid of goods and clothing before they have been truly used just doesn't make sense. There are the odd personal street sales but nothing like the giant Value Villages that set up shop in every neighborhood back home or the 'we're so trendy' boutiques that sell tees with perfectly worn holes and washed down denim. While I am very, very excited to begin thrifting again once we return to Canada, thinking of the warehouses filled with unwanted goods waiting for me puts the economic lack down here in sharper focus.
Have you ever noticed that when people write of life in paradise they tend to leave out the super giant bugs that are an integral part of every tropical climate? Uh huh.
So when my parents were visiting last week my Dad and his girlfriend borrowed our beach umbrella and then promptly lost it. They paid us back and instead of buying a new umbrella that we will only use for the next 3 months before getting rid of it to head to Toronto we decided to use the money to go on a movie date. Yesterday we headed off to see 500 Days of Summer which we LOVED. And yes I know we are about a year late getting on this bandwagon but it just takes that long for movies to be released down here. If you haven't seen it then make sure to...

I was cleaning out an old email account last night an stumbled upon the link to a 'polaroid making' program. Simulating the affects of polaroid film (although nothing will EVER beat real polaroid film) this software will take any of your normal digital picts and give them a soft ethereal beauty. I'm still not sure if I like this better than just altering the levels in photoshop myself and I'm SURE that I don't like the faux polaroid border...but fun to try none-the-less. Give it a go yourself here.

So, after a year of living a much simpler life in a much warmer climate, V and I have made the decision to return to Canada and get back to big city living. In three months we'll leave our little casita with a view of the sea and hit the road for Toronto - a new city and experience for both of us. We have mixed feelings about the decision to leave but feel that, while we'll most likely be kicking ourselves next December, returning home to Canada is for the best.
