Coffee is VERY important to me and I usually brew my own to be the consistency of tar. In Mexico coffee is served as weak as dirty dishwater so every day I relish my own cup in the morning. The other day while I was waiting for my morning coffee to start percolating I smelt the distinct smell of burning beans. I dismissed it as my imagination but the smell got stronger and stronger.

It turns out that THIS is what happens when you forget to reassemble your coffee machine with the filter and the rubber seal - a huge crunchy mess.

Oh, and if you are ever in Puerto Vallarta and are trying to find great coffee, head to Cafe Oro Verde - the only place I've found that does it right.
