Last night was the end of my 3 session natural dyeing class over at The Workroom. I've fallen in love with the muted earthy palettes that natural dyes give you (I currently use synthetic) and in the New Year I think I am going to add the process to Scout & Catalogue. We also got a chance to experiment with the age old technique of shibori (think Japanese kimonos) using indigo which is the only way to naturally dye the colour blue. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my sample fabrics yet but they will have to be on the back burner for at least the next week since I'm busy preparing for The Holiday Gift Party this Thursday evening. On the way out of class a friend gave me a jar of homemade pickles which I thought set off the blue in the shibori perfectly!
