When I stumbled on these scientifically classified gems I felt a wave of nostalgia. Growing up a friend of my mother's was very into science and every so often he would pass me a tiny parcel, always filled with some new earthly wonder. Each crystal, rock or fossil came with a tiny note outlining the miracle that had occurred to form such a beautiful object and each item was carefully placed in a tiny shelved and categorized box for me to marvel at whenever I desired.(via leah bear)
