My dad left behind some PD James murder mysteries when my family visited and I've slowly been making my way through them. I'm normally not a fan of mystery novels but PD James (also known as Phyllis Dorothy James, Baroness James of Holland Park) writes so beautifully that you can't help but be transported to London and happily engrossed in characters that run aging museums, work as headmistress's of lady's finishing schools and who always have time to break from plotting murders to have tea.

The above photos are from the lovely blog, Quaint Living, where you can always find great photos depicting life in Britain.
