One of V's cousin's spent a day with us this past weekend and we headed down to the beaches on the west side of the city to enjoy the very hot and sunny weather. While there we were approached by a vendor selling sculptures made of precious stones. While none of his wares caught my eye the quartz crystal on his wrist did and V managed to convince him to sell it to us despite the stone having large personal value to him. Feeling guilty for purchasing something so personal we retracted our offer but he assured us that the stone was a symbol of good luck for this trip and that the next day he would return to his home in the south of Mexico. For him this final transaction was also a sign of fortune. With our own trip coming up so quickly I am thrilled to have this small crystal come with us delivering some Mexican good luck along the long road home.
